An Evening Of Popular Song

Hawley Place Junior Singers

On Thursday 8 July, some junior pupils, HPUK vocalists (Years 9 and 10) and Music GCSE Year 11 pupils took part in a concert in aid of 'Rushmoor Town Twinning Youth Exchanges'.

The concert began with Miss Sculpher and three other vocalists from ACM Gospel Choir performing some songs for us which were beautiful.

Next the Year 11s performed some solos and some group songs, with a song and dance solo from Hannah Steele ('Mein Herr') and a song from Alex Webb ('Hey Jude'), which were both fantastic!

After the interval there was a chance for youngsters who have recently been on Town Twinning Exchanges to share their experiences. Charlotte & I spoke about our recent vocal group trip to Oberursel, and two of the Hawley Place junior pupils spoke about their trip to Meudon. Also several students and their teacher from Farnborough Sixth Form College and a boy from a local football club talked about their trips.

Next to perform was HPUK. We performed some songs that we had been performing on our recent town twinning trip to Oberursel in Germany, including a trio of 'Hot and Cold' from Anna, Beth and Jessie (Year 9) and a duet of 'The Show' from Millie and Charlotte (Year 10).

The concert ended with the ACM vocalists and some songs from the junior pupils. Those who had recently visited our twin town of Meudon in France sang their own French song and then, with the ACM group, they sang 'Shackles' which we all found very entertaining and had everyone on their feet dancing and clapping to the music!

The evening was very successful and altogether we raised £750 for 'Rushmoor Town Twinning Youth Exchanges' which is fantastic. The concert went very well, and everyone really enjoyed themselves.
